Water meters on council agenda for Tuesday meeting

Saturday, August 30, 2014

The Nevada City Council will be considering bids for the purchase of new water meters to replace units that are 26 years old during its meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the council chambers in the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash.

According to the request from Shawn Mittendorf, Alliance Water Resources local manager, as the meters age they lose accuracy, usually metering less water usage than is actually used.

The council will also be considering the first reading of a special ordinance amending the development agreement for Atlantic Estates to permit the construction of a house without the installation of the road required by the development agreement. If approved the amendment will allow the house to be built, but not occupied until the road is built in the spring.

Other items on the agenda include the second and final reading of an ordinance accepting the drainage easement at 620 S. Olive St. as granted by Nancy Seeley, the final reading of a special ordinance approving an agreement with the Vernon County Commission for billing and collecting Nevada's 2014 property tax.

The council will also hold the final reading of an ordinance accepting a grinder pump easement from Ranza Inc., 2505 E. Austin Boulvard and will hold an executive session for "hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting of particular employees by a public governmental body when personal information about the employee is discussed or recorded."
