Tigers hit the track at Joplin Middle School meet

The Nevada Tigers middle school track-and-field team traveled to Joplin for Tuesday's track-and-field meet.

For Nevada, the eighth-grade boys finished in third-place at the 10-team meet, while the eighth-grade girls placed sixth; the seventh-grade boys fifth; and the seventh-grade girls sixth.

While there, NMS seventh-grader Ben Hines set a new school record in the triple jump, at 37-feet 5-inches.

NMS 8th-grade boys

* High jump: Kolby O'Connell, second-place, 5-feet; Austin Bash, fourth-place, 4-feet 10-inches.

* Triple jump: Colin Witte first-place, 37-feet 7-inches.

* Long jump: O'Connell, second-place, 17-feet; Witte, third-place, 16-feet 11 1/2 inches.

* Shot put: Witte, third-place, 37-feet 6-inches.

* Discus: Gavin Urquidez, sixth-place, 104-feet 6-inches.

* 100-meter dash: Witte, first-place, 12:22.

* 800-meter-relay: Witte, O'Connell, Bash, and Landon Murphey, fourth-place, 1:45.32.

NMS 8th-grade girls

* High jump: Julia Cassidy, second-place, 4-feet 4-inches.

* Pole vault: Morgan Smith, fourth-place, 6-feet.

* Triple jump: Lindley Ferry, sixth-place, 28-feet 8-inches.

* 800-meter relay: Ferry, Cassidy, Hailey Lundine, and Zoie Farmer, sixth-place, 2:08.63.

* 800-meter-run: Calli Beshore: first-place, 2:31.19.

7th-grade boys

* High jump: Ben Hines, second-place, 5-feet.

* Pole vault: John Blouser, third-place, 7-feet 5-inches; Eric Mason, sixth-place, 7-feet.

* Triple jump: Hines, first-place, 37-feet 5-inches (new school record); Logan Applegate, fifth-place, 32-inches.

* Long jump: Hines, third-place, 16-feet 5-inches; Applegate, fourth-place, 16-feet 3 1/12 inches.

* 400-meter-relay: Hines, Applegate, Eric Mason, and Kaden Denney, fourth-place, 53.97.

* 800-meter-run: Derrick Lancaster, fifth-place, 2:32.44.

NMS 7th-grade girls

* Pole vault: Jayci Servos, third-place, 6-feet; Kadence Trosper, sixth-place, 5-feet 5-inches.

* Triple jump: Tylin Heathman, sixth-place, 26-feet 1-inch.

* Long jump: Laney Coons, fifth-place, 13-feet 6-inches.

* Shot put: Heathman, sixth-place, 25-feet 3-inches.

* 100-meter hurdles: Heathman, second-place, 18.34.

* 100-meter dash: Coons, third-place, 14.1; Blair Wilson, sixth-place, 14.85.

* 800-meter-relay: Servos, Hallie Bond, Brianna Ream, and Emily Bourassa, fifth-place, 2:09.16.

* 1600-meter-run: Serenity Lockhart, sixth-place, 6:40.21.

* 400-meter relay: Coons, Bond, Heathman, and Wilson, fourth-place, 58.46.
