Neptunes trio nets High Point honors at Webb City meet

The Nevada Neptunes competed in the Webb City Cardinals Tri-State Invitational Swim Meet June 18-19 at the Buck Miner Swim Center.

The Neptunes had a successful outing with a number of high finishes in both individual and relay events. In addition, three Neptune swimmers received High Point trophy awards.

The two-day indoor event featured 11 Tri-state teams and approximately 409 swimmers, including 28 from Nevada. Traveling with the Neeptunes, were head coach Karen Claypool, and assistants Samantha Short, Shelby Thorns, Thomas Prewitt, and Tayler Matthews.

Neptunes results

Kenton Evans: Male 6-and-under, fourth-place in 25-yard backstroke and fifth-place in 25-yard freestyle.

Kierston Eador: Female 8-and-under, First place in 25-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle; second-place in 100-yard individual medley; sixth-place in 25-yard backstroke and 25-yard breaststroke.

Kolton Evans: Male 8-and-under, third-place in 25-yard freestyle, 50-yard freestyle, and 100-yard individual medley; fourth-place in 25-yard butterfly and fifth-place in 25-yard backstroke.

Johnnie Bruce: Male-10-and-under, sixth-place in 50-yard breastroke.

Cody Leung: Male 10-and-under, swept three events. First-place in 50-yard breastroke, 50-yard butterfly and 100-yard individual medley; second-place in 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle; third-place in 50-yard backstroke.

Abbigale Baldwin: Female 11-12 year-old, sixth-place in 50-yard freestyle.

Benjamin Hines: Male 13-14 year-old, swept six events. First-place in 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 50-yard backstroke, 50-yard breastrroke, 50-yard butterfly, and 200-yard individual medley.

Kalen Morris: Male 13-14 year-old, third-place in 50-yard backstroke and fourth-place in 50-yard freestyle.

Hannah Baker: Female 15-18 year-old, third-place in 100-yard freestyle and fourth-place in 50-yard butterfly.

Mary Bean: Female 15-18 year-old, swept five events. First-place in 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly, and 100-yard individual medley; second-place in 50-yard backstroke.

Janna Scotten: Female 15-18 year-old, fifth-place in 50-yard freestyle.

Thomas Prewitt: Male 15-18 year-old, fourth-place in 200-yard freestyle.

Neptunes relay results

* Male 10-and-under relay team A: Kolton Evans, Johnnie Bruce, Cody Leung, and Liam McGrath ---- second-place in 100-yard medley relay.

* Female 11-12 year-old relay team A: Emma Bruce, Abbigale Baldwin, Franki Fine, and Kailyn Evans ---- fifth-place in 200-yard medley relay.

* Female 11-12 year-old relay team A: Emma Bruce, Kailyn Evans, Avery Morris, and Abbigale Baldwin ---- fifth place in 200-yard freestyle relay.

* Female 10-and-under relay team A: Brianna Dawson, Kierston Eador, Chloe Morris, and Alexus George ---- sixth-place in 100-yard medley relay.

High Point winners were: Cody Leung, 10, first-place in male 10-and-under division; Benjamin Hines, 13, first-place in male 13-14 year-old division; and Mary Bean, 15, first-place in female 15-18 year-old division.

2016 schedule

The Neptunes are slated to participate in the Joplin Stingrays Invitational, June 25-26; Nevada Neptunes Invitational July 2-3; Branson Waves Invitational, July 9-10; Pittsburg Barracudas Invitational, July 16-17; Lamar Tiger Sharks Invitational, July 23-24; Tri-State B Championships, July 30-31 at Siloam Springs. This event is hosted by the Siloam Springs Flyers. The entry deadline for Nevada Neptune swimmers is July 24.

The season-ending Tri-State A Championship is slated for Aug. 6-7 at Monett. The event is hosted by the Monett Water Thrashers. The entry deadline for Neptune swimmers is July 30.
